Celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 with Inspiring Community Events

The local community is warmly invited to come together for a series of engaging and empowering events celebrating International Women’s Day 2025. Spanning from March 1st to March 13th, this inspiring program highlights the achievements of women, fosters conversations on equality, and promotes cultural diversity.

A Packed Schedule of Events:

Frenchay Heritage Walk & Talk – Saturday 1st March 2025
Discover local history at Frenchay Village Museum (BS16 1SZ) and enjoy an inspiring talk by author Jane Duffus on 'The Women Who Built Bristol.' Attendees can view a special Red Dress exhibition, join a guided heritage walk, and participate in an afternoon discussion. Free tickets are required via Eventbrite – link is on our website.

Girls & Young Women Skatepark Event – Saturday 1st March 2025
Campus Skatepark, Winterbourne (BS36 1QG) will host an inclusive skate and art event for girls and young women from 4:30 PM to 9 PM. The event includes graffiti-style art workshops, a skateboarding coaching session, and a pizza social. Free registration is available online.

Police Walk & Talk – Creating Safer Spaces – Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd March 2025
Women and girls are invited to share their experiences about safety in public spaces with local police officers. Walk & Talk sessions will be held at Bradley Stoke Skate Park (BS32 9BS) on both days, promoting dialogue about community safety concerns.

Red Dress in Popular Culture Talk – Tuesday 4th March 2025
Join Jenny James at Little Stoke Baptist Church (BS34 6JW) for an insightful exploration of the symbolism of the Red Dress in fashion, activism, and popular culture. The talk begins at 7:30 PM and is free to attend.

Copa 71 Film Screening – Friday 7th March 2025
Celebrate the pioneers of women’s football with a screening of Copa 71 at The Brightwell, Bradley Stoke. The evening features speeches by Brightwell (BS32 9DB) CEO Doro and Mayor Natalie Field, recognising the history and progress of women's football. Tickets are free via Eventbrite.

Cultural Dress, Community Stalls & Inspiring Stories – Saturday 8th March 2025
Celebrate diversity at Christ the King Church (BS32 8EE) from 3 PM to 7 PM with cultural dance performances, community stalls, and a showcase of traditional attire from around the world. Tickets are just £1.50 and the link is available via our website link below, supporting future IWD events.

Filton Mothers' Union Talk – Thursday 13th March 2025
Conclude the celebrations with a discussion on women in faith and spirituality led by Jenny James at St Peter’s Church, Filton (BS34 7BQ). This free event offers a reflective space to honour women’s contributions to faith communities.

Councillor Natalie Field, Mayor and Chair of Bradley Stoke Town Council said; "International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder of how far we have come and how far we still must go in achieving gender equality.
