Community Comes Together for Successful Orchard Tree Planting Event
BSTC - 3rd March 2025
The local community came together on Friday 21st February for a successful and inspiring Community Orchard Tree Planting Event in Bradley Stoke at the Brook Way Activity Centre. The day was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and a shared commitment to enhancing the local environment as part of the Town Council’s work on the Local Nature Action Plan.

The Green Gym Volunteers
The event saw incredible support from a variety of local organisations and community members, including the Willow Brook Centre, Bradley Stoke Green Gym, local Councillors, Council Staff, members of the public, and even players from the Bristol Pitbulls Ice Hockey Team. With their combined efforts, participants worked tirelessly to dig holes and plant trees, ensuring the orchard's future growth.

A special thank you goes to our generous sponsors who made this event possible: Hamberley Care Homes (Lovell Place), Willow Brook Centre, ARV Solutions, Explore Learning, One Planet Matters, The Tree Council, and Forest of Avon Trust. Their support has played a crucial role in making this project a reality.
In total, 40 fruit trees were planted (20 donated by One Planet Matters/Forest of Avon and 20 through The Tree Council, Branching Out fund), marking a significant step toward creating a lasting green space that will benefit the community for years to come. This orchard will provide fresh fruit, improve biodiversity, and offer a welcoming environment for local residents to enjoy.
“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we received,” said Councillor Natalie Field, Mayor of Bradley Stoke, “This event was a fantastic demonstration of community spirit, and we look forward to watching these trees grow and flourish as a shared resource for all.”

The Community Orchard Tree Planting Event is just one of many initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and community engagement. Residents are encouraged to visit the orchard, take care of the newly planted trees, and enjoy the benefits of this wonderful green space.
Going forward, Bradley Stoke Town Council will be funding and developing the orchard further by including a wellbeing space.
