Bradley Stoke Town Council are still hopeful a Farmers/Artisan Market in the Town will get the go-ahead. The monthly market was expected to start in October and was due to be held in the Town Square at the Willow Brook Centre, but advertising for the event has been put on hold following objections from traders at the centre. The Council's Leisure, Youth and Amenities committee were told of the objections last night and councillors expressed their disappointment, as initial discussions with the centre had been encouraging. Bradley Stoke Town Councillors visited Westminster on Wednesday to step up the campaign for faster broadband connections in the Town. Town Mayor Cllr Ben Walker and Councillors John Ashe, Brian Hopkinson, Robert Jones and Sarah Pomfret attended a meeting at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport with Communications Minister Ed Vaizey MP. A youth football club has become so popular it has outgrown its own town. Founded in 1998, Bradley Stoke YFC has grown to have 15 boys' and girls' teams and more than 200 players for the coming season. That is the good news – the bad news is there are not enough pitches to play on. Read more...

Bradley Stoke's Town Clerk David Chandler, the man who started the Town Council out of boxes in his parents' front room, retires today after nearly 18 years in the role. During that time his stewardship has seen the council grow to its present size with a turnover of nearly £1m a year and 15 staff. Read more...
