International Women's Day Poetry and Photographic Competition 2010

IWD - 11th January 2010

International Women's Day (IWD) will be promoted across the whole of South Gloucestershire with a poetry and photographic competition entitled 'A Woman You Know'. We want to hear from you about one woman who has influenced your life; your mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, teacher, wife, daughter or even an historical figure, etc - a woman who has loved you, inspired you, supported you, believed in you, someone you love, a woman you know who has made a difference in your life.

So get your cameras and pens out, write a poem or take a picture to celebrate your special woman through poetry or photography in this competition. How do you see them, does a bunch of lilies of the valley remind you of your Gran? How will you represent the woman you have chosen? Show them you appreciate them by entering this competition.

There are two age categories, opened to both men and women:

  • Young person aged 11 - 18
  • Adult aged 19 upwards
  • Entries can either be a photograph OR poem OR both.

All entries must be received by Saturday 23rd January, 2010.

The winners for each category will be decided by a panel of judges and announced at the IWD celebration on Thursday 11th March 6.30-9.30pm. All winning entrants will be notified by the end of February and invited to attend the event.

Prizes: We have some fantastic prizes for the winner of each category.
