Information about Southern Brooks Area Forum
The Southern Brooks Area Forum covers the following Wards: Bradley Stoke South, Bradley Stoke North, Bradley Stoke Central & Stoke Lodge, Filton, Frenchay & Stoke Park, Patchway, Stoke Gifford, Winterbourne.
The council believes it is important to consider decisions at a local level and to consider local views in the decision-making process and has established five area forums. The basic role of the Area Forum is to bring together Councillors, representatives of community organisations and local residents to discuss local issues.
An area forum:
- Is comprised of ward councillors for the area
- Is one of the means of consulting the public and reviewing the impact of council policies and services on the area
- Provides an opportunity to involve local residents and others in the community
- Champions local needs and aspirations
- Provides a focus for active public participation
- Decision making powers have been delegated to the elected Councillors. These include the allocation of grants to community groups and consideration of local traffic schemes.
