Show your support for the Jubilee Green

BSTC - 20th October 2011

Bradley Stoke Town Council are urging residents to show their support for the long term future of the Jubilee Green by voting for the site as part of the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge marking HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

The QEII Fields Challenge operated by Fields in Trust aims to protect 2012 outdoor recreational spaces in communities all across the country. The Jubilee Green was nominated by the Council’s Leisure Youth and Amenities Committee last year and it is hoped the field will now gain protected status under the scheme. It is hoped that this in turn may also open the door for further third party funding to improve the site further.

Voting on the Fields in Trust website started this week and the council are hoping as many residents as possible will take their time to register support for the green at: www.qe2fields.com/castyourvote.aspx

Town Mayor Cllr Ben Walker comments: "Not only is the QEII Fields Challenge a fitting tribute to Her Majesty in her Diamond Jubilee year, it is also a great opportunity for our community to derive an enduring benefit for generations to come."

Residents have 4 weeks to cast their vote.
