Casual Vacancy following Councillor Resignation

BSTC - 16th September 2009

A casual vacancy has arisen on Bradley Stoke Town Council (BSTC) following the resignation of Cllr David Skeet (Meadowbank). Cllr Skeet's resignation was formally announced at a meeting of the Full Council this evening.

In his letter of resignation to the Clerk, Cllr Skeet explained that his decision followed criticism of his poor attendance record due to illness saying "I feel it is the best thing for the council that I step down and make way for a person who will be a more positive and active person for the ward."

Speaking on behalf of council, chairman Cllr Mark Forsyth Town Mayor thanked Cllr Skeet for his service and wished him well for the future adding "At the end of the day Town Councillors are all volunteers and sometimes life is for living".

The vacancy will now be formally advertised and a by-election will be called if requested by ten residents of the ward within 14 working days.
