Following on from our exciting programme of events this summer, Bristol Zoo Gardens has lots more to look forward to throughout autumn 2007.

Experience an Animal Encounter in the Terrace Theatre, test yourself against the athletes of the animal world with our Zoolympics trail, or join in the fun at the Activity Centre and adventure playground.

In September, Bristol Zoo becomes a giant outdoor cinema for an animated spectacular with Aardman Animation and throughout September, OAPs can enjoy half-price admission when they print a ‘Silver Surfer Saver’ voucher from our website.

A Grand Night Out with Aardman and Bristol Zoo

Saturday 15th September

Bristol Zoo becomes a giant outdoor cinema for a one-off evening of UK previews, hot-off-the-press exclusives and full-length animated features for all the family, courtesy of Bristol’s own Aardman Animations. We have the burgers, popcorn, plasticine and movies - all we need is YOU! Meet Wallace and Gromit, participate in an Aardman modelling workshop, bring a picnic or knit your own. Entertainment, competitions, prizes, face-painting and activities for all. And it’s all for charity! An essential date for all animation junkies or wannabe modellers (and we haven’t even mentioned the cheese!).

Halloween Festival

Saturday 20th – Wednesday 31st October

There will be spooks, ghouls, freaks and fools a-plenty at the Zoo for the 2007 Hallowe’en Festival. Carve a pumpkin, get into a creepy costume and join our merry band of witches, wizards and warlocks for a spine-chilling spectacular of fun, games and music. With prizes, freebies and a whole lotta scaring going on. Freaky phantasmal fun for all.

Halloween Trail

Sat 20th – Wed 31st October

Collect a spooky trail card on entering the zoo and follow our themed creepy trail.

Pumpkin Carving Competition

Friday 26th October

Carve a pumpkin and bring it along - free entry for one child between 9am and 12noon with a pumpkin and a full-paying adult. Help to create a pumpkin passage along the main path by bringing a carved or decorated pumpkin. Winners announced at 3pm. The pumpkins will then form part of a display over the weekend. There are several categories for the pumpkin contest (Best adult carving (15 years +), Best child’s carving (5-14 years), Best decorated pumpkin (0-6 years), with prizes for each category.

Halloween Parade

Friday 26th – Sunday 28th October

Meet the Zoo’s very own witch, her cat and her bat at 1.30pm by pumpkin passage for fancy dress frolics. There will be prizes for the best, the funniest and the most imaginative costume. Come along, join in and scare the adults silly.

Parent and Toddler Coffee Mornings at Bristol Zoo Gardens

Every Wednesday in the Pelican Restaurant from 9.30am to 11am. Coffee morning free of charge to Zoo Members, special refreshment package for £1.95.

Parent and Toddler Music and Storytime fun at Bristol Zoo Gardens

Special guest music and story-time leaders, including Sing and Sign, Rhymetime and Jo Jingles on the first Wednesday of every month in the Terrace Theatre. £4 per adult inc. refreshments. Booking Essential.
