Three Brooks Nature Conservation Group - 16th April 2009
The Three Brooks Nature Conservation Group would like to invite local residents to join them on a walk round the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve on Saturday 13 June, as part of the Bradley Stoke Community Festival celebrations.
Would you like to know a bit more about the wildlife on your doorstep? Have you ever wondered what that pretty pink flower is, or which bird is singing from the depths of a bramble bush? Did you even know that we have a wildlife refuge right in the middle of Bradley Stoke?
The walk will be led by a professional ecologist who will explain the different habitats on the reserve and introduce you to the wildlife that depends on them. By the end of it you will be able to tell a burnet moth from a butterfly, understand how wildflowers can offer clues about the area’s agricultural past and maybe even learned how to identify some birds by their call alone. We can’t predict in advance exactly what we will see (or hear) but we can promise you a fascinating insight into the natural world.
The walk will commence from outside the Leisure Centre at 10 am and will finish at the Festival at the Jubilee Centre at 1 pm, in plenty of time for you to join in the Festival fun!
The walk is FREE and open to all the community. The walk will mainly take place on surfaced paths but please be aware that we will also take in the reserve’s woodlands and grasslands so terrain will be uneven and suitable footwear should be worn.
This community walk is made possible by our Service Level Agreement with Bradley Stoke Town Council and the conservation group gratefully acknowledges their support.
