Bradley Stoke Town Council Elects New Mayor

Following the gathering of the Bradley Stoke Town Council’s Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday 21st May 2014; Councillor John Ashe was elected to the position of Mayor of Bradley Stoke.
The outgoing Mayor Councillor Brian Hopkinson, reflected on his time in office and presented the Mayoral Charity Cheques to his three chosen charities; Whizz Kidz, Heartful Dodgers, and Friends of Jubilee Green.
Upon Councillor John Ashe’s election to the position of Mayor, he thanked the outgoing Mayor for the hard work he has undertaken throughout the last year. Councillor John Ashe then proceeded to convey to those present at the meeting; that he takes the responsibility of Mayor very seriously, and he will work closely with Councillors and Officers to ensure the Council is run effectively and gives the council tax payer the best value for money. Councillor John Ashe also announced his chosen Mayoral Charities for the ensuing year; the Great Western Air Ambulance, and the Royal British Legion.
Councillor John Ashe has been a sitting councillor in Bradley Stoke since 2004 (currently representing the Baileys Court Ward); making him the longest currently serving Town Councillor.
