Bradley Stoke Town Council is excited to announce the return of its popular annual Charity Scarecrow Trail, taking place from Saturday, 26th October to Sunday, 3rd November 2024. This year’s theme, “Scarecrows at Work,” celebrates the diversity of professions and encourages creative displays of scarecrows representing various occupations throughout the town.

Councillor Natalie Field, Mayor of Bradley Stoke said: ‘I am delighted that so many people and organisations have come forward to make scarecrows as all the money raised will go to the Mayor’s charities which are Diabetes UK, Mamas Bristol and the Brightwell Centre. The trail is fun for everyone but particularly for families. This year the theme for the trail is ‘scarecrows at work’ to celebrate all the important contributions people make and recognises the importance of diversity in the workplace Stoke’.

Lara, Events, Marketing and Communications Officer at The Brightwell said: ‘The Brightwell are excited to be a part of the council's charity scarecrow trail this year. We are grateful to be one of the Mayor’s chosen charities that this trail supports, and thank the council and citizens of Bradley Stoke for their continued support. Look out for our scarecrow here at The Brightwell Centre, it’s going to be fantastic this year!’

We also heard from Diabetes UK; Phaedra Perry, Head of Diabetes South West & South Central, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Bradley Stoke Town Council and Mayor Natalie Field for proudly supporting Diabetes UK as part of the Mayor’s Charities for 2024/25. At Diabetes UK we’re leading the fight against the biggest growing health crisis and working tirelessly to develop new treatments – and one day, find a cure. But we can’t do it alone.

The support of fundraisers like the Scarecrow Trail is vital, and every penny raised will go towards Diabetes UK care and support services, advice and guidance and pioneering research.”

In line with the theme, we are also proud to use this event to promote and highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. From healthcare and emergency services to skilled trades and community roles, the event will feature scarecrows representing a wide range of jobs that reflect the diversity of our society. As a community, Bradley Stoke is committed to encouraging diversity in all areas of life, including the workplace, recognizing that inclusivity strengthens our town and the broader community.

Residents and visitors are invited to join this unique, family-friendly event by following the trail, voting for their favorite scarecrow, and contributing to the celebration of creativity, diversity, and community spirit. By purchasing a trail map for just £2, participants will be entered into a prize draw upon submitting their vote for the most impressive scarecrow.

The 2024 Charity Scarecrow Trail proudly supports Diabetes UK, The Brightwell – a Centre for neurological well-being and physical recovery, and Mamas Bristol, a local charitable group focused on empowering families. This event offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the autumn season while raising funds for these important causes.

The event is generously sponsored by Willow Brook Shopping Centre and L.W. Clutterbuck Ltd., with all proceeds going directly to the chosen charities.
