Grand Opening of Baileys Court’s New Play Area on 2nd July 2022 in Bradley Stoke
BSTC - 24th June 2022
The Baileys Court New Play Area will be opened for public use on Saturday, the 2nd of July 2022 at 10 am. Weather permitting, a grand opening with face painters, goodie bags, ice cream vans and music is planned by the Bradley Stoke Town Council (BSTC) and the contractor ‘Kompan’ for the event.
Mayor Cllr Tony Griffiths will open the park, joined by councillors, council staff, Kompan employees and community members. All Bradley Stoke residents are welcomed to come along and join the celebration.
Baileys Court Play Area has been one of the most popular play areas in the town and was very well used for over 27 years, when some parts of the play area became weary and needed a makeover. It has been completely redeveloped now. The total cost of the redevelopment project has been circa £105,000.00, which has been funded by the Town Council and two external funding applications by the Town Council. The Town Council secured £30,000.00 from Enovert Community Trust and £14,195.00 from Ibstock Enovert Trust, leaving the remaining balance of £66,805.00 from the Town Council Reserves, which has been possible following many years of careful financial planning. The invitation to tender for the project was advertised in April 2021 and the Town Council meeting in May 2021 formally agreed to award the contract to Kompan. However, there were work delays due to project’s planning application and its procedures.
On 14th of March 2022, then Mayor Cllr Tom Aditya launched the ground-breaking ceremony to commence redevelopment works at the Baileys Court Play Area. Cllr Tom Aditya, who is currently BSTC Chairman of Leisure, Youth and Amenities said “Bradley Stoke Town Council has provided an exciting and inclusive new play space for families and children by completely redeveloping this play area. The young people and parents had shown much interest during the course of its redevelopment and design. The new play area has been equipped with the biggest slide in South Gloucestershire, a mega tower, wobbly bridge, carousel, swings, triple somersault bars, and other pieces of play equipment offering 40 play features and catering to almost 75 children at a time. All the play equipment and gadgets are bespoke and made to order, which will include the safety surface. It also comes with almost 30-years guarantee. This gives Bradley Stoke a high-quality play area with some unique facilities which will keep children occupied, excited, and stimulated. I am much gratified to be part of this project. Thanks to all my colleagues and project staff, who helped us in this endeavour”
Phil Francis, BSTC Activity Centres Manager said “There has been some delays in the work earlier. Bradley Stoke Town Council worked efficaciously with the contractor for its completion. The project has come to fruition now. All equipment has been installed at the play area on 17th June and wet pour (rubber tarmac) has been laid on 20th June. In the week commencing 27th June, we are doing a final inspection run externally to make sure the play area is safe. Snagging may happen, which will be rectified and some minor tree works will also be completed soon. Kompan is a well-reputed company with a track record of over 40 years in developing high-quality playground and fitness equipment. Testimonials show that their play areas are excellent. Glad to be part of this project”
Bradley Stoke Town Council invites all young children in the town to come for the celebration at 10 am on the 2nd of July and to enjoy features of the new play area (Bailey Court Play Area, Baileys Court Road, Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 8BH). Goodie bags are limited, so please come earlier to grab one. Let’s have a good time.
