During Bradley Stoke Town Council’s Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday 9th May 2018, Councillor Ben Randles was appointed by the Council to the position of Mayor of Bradley Stoke.
Councillor Ben Randles is the first councillor appointed to the position of Mayor who was born after the formation of our Council back in April 1992. Ben has lived in Bradley Stoke since his family moved here in 1997 from Chichester West Sussex, attending Bailey's Court Primary School from 1997 – 2003, The Ridings High School 2003 – 2010 (later known as the Winterbourne International Academy) and the University of the West of England 2010 – 2014.
The outgoing Mayor, Councillor Andy Ward welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained that it was his pleasure, as his last action in the role of Mayor of the Town, to present cheques to the two recipients of the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
A total of £8,763.95 had been raised over the past year to be split between the Cardiomyopathy UK (£4,381.98 – 50%) and Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service (£4,381.97 – 50%). Representatives of the charities attended the AGM and accepted the cheques.
Upon Councillor Ben Randles’ appointment to the position of Mayor, he thanked all councillors for his nomination and then chaired the Meeting after signing the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.
