Club makes a pitch for more space to play on

The club rents two full-size pitches from the town council at the Jubilee Centre and uses the pitch at Bradley Stoke Community School when it is available.

For the age groups under 12, the teams play on smaller pitches at Baileys Court until the cricket season starts in April. The rest of the time, they play and train at local primary schools, or wherever they can find some grass and a set of goal posts.

One of the club's founder members Martin Lee said: "We have eight teams that play on full-size pitches and there are only a maximum of three in the town. The pitches at the Jubilee Centre are used by the adult teams on Saturdays, so when the wet winter weather comes you can't play the number of games we need to play on them."

The 49-year-old, of Dewfalls Drive, added: "It's great that we've got so many kids joining but the numbers we've built up over the years exceeds the facilities we've got in the town at the moment.

"I don't know what the answer is. But if anyone out there has some spare land they want to make into a football pitch, let us know."

The town's other team, Bradley Stoke United, play at Cribbs Causeway.

Town councillor Rob Jones said: "The council are proud to be associated with BSYFC and are delighted with the success of the club in recent years. We understand the pressures associated with the growth of the club and the demand for additional pitches.

"Whilst we are restricted from providing additional pitches by the lack of available land we are committed to doing all we can to alleviate the problems and have recently spent over £8,000 improving drainage at the Jubilee Centre."
