Highways England logo

Highways England - 22nd July 2020

Highways England operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A roads. I’m writing to you regarding some work that we need to carry out that may impact you.

The works

Essential surfacing works need to be carried out at junction 20 on the M4. This will impact traffic travelling northbound on the M5 from the M4 eastbound and the M4 westbound. To minimise disruption, we’ll work overnight when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day we will keep the carriageway open as usual.

Dates of work

The work will start on the evening of Monday 3 August and finish on the morning of Saturday 8 August. Work will take place at night time between 8pm and 6am.

Traffic management

Whilst work is taking place, we will need to fully close these link roads on the M4 and M5. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place during this time. Please accept our apologies in advance for any disruption this may cause.

We always aim to work to the programme, however unforseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes to it. We will notify you of any major changes within the programme via advance roadside warning signs, but please also monitor www.trafficengland.com to keep up to date. We will make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum.
