Bristol Parkway Electrification Update
Network Rail - 3rd September 2018
This autumn we will be closing Bristol Parkway station to finish electrification of the railway line from London Paddington to Bristol Parkway. This is enabling new trains with more seats and better on-board facilities to be included.
Upcoming dates to be aware of:
SATURDAY 15 SEPTEMBER - SUNDAY 7 OCTOBER
We’ll be working day and night, seven days a week to install electrification equipment between Winterbourne and Stoke Gifford and along the Filton East Curve.
We’ll also be testing the equipment we’ve already installed between Royal Wootton Bassett and Winterbourne.
The nature of our work means some disturbance is unavoidable, however we have reminded all staff to be considerate to our neighbours.
During this period, trains won’t call at Bristol Parkway. Some trains will call at Patchway instead and buses will run between Bristol Parkway and Yate, Patchway and Filton Abbey Wood.
SATURDAY 13 - SUNDAY 14 OCTOBER
Testing between Swindon and Bristol Parkway will continue and we’ll also be working on our project to double the number of tracks between Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads. During this weekend, there will be no trains via Bristol Parkway or between Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads, including the Severn Beach line.
MONDAY 15 - THURSDAY 18 OCTOBER
We’ll be working in the Bristol Parkway area between 22:30 and 05:00 every night as we near completion of our electrification work in this area.
