Next phase of engineering work around Bristol Parkway station
Network Rail - 11th July 2017
As you may be aware, we are currently undertaking essential work on the Great Western Main Line, in and around Bristol Parkway station to increase capacity of the line which will help meet the growing demand for rail travel.
As part of these works we need to stabilise the embankment and, following extensive ground testing, it was decided that soil nailing (installing reinforced bars into the embankment and grouting them into place) was the best option. Over the last few weeks our contractor, Bam, carried out the soil nailing, but, unfortunately, the nails have failed. This means that we have to use a different option and will now be putting in a king post wall structure to support the embankment.
