A warning to all businesses
South Gloucestershire Council Trading Standards - 30th June 2014
South Gloucestershire Trading Standards would like to remind businesses to be wary when offered goods unexpectedly and to report anyone selling, or offering to sell, suspected counterfeit products.
This warning comes after detectives from the Police Intellectual Property Crime unit made several arrests across the country relating to the supply of counterfeit versions of a paint preparation system used by the motor industry.
Trading Standards are aware that counterfeit AutoData software was offered to a number of businesses within the South Gloucestershire area last year. Across the country, Trading Standards officers have seized counterfeit products that prove not only to be of a poor quality, but are unsafe and dangerous to use, including chainsaws and electrical equipment like chargers.
Trading Standards are encouraging local businesses to report anyone selling or offering to sell goods they think might be counterfeit or stolen.
