Claire Emery, a Director of Flexible Training Partners Ltd outlines the forthcoming launch of a brand new adult education programme with some unique differences. This exciting programme illustrates how business and local education can help support each other. The programme will be delivered by Flexible Training Partners Ltd from Bradley Stoke Community School’s excellent facilities starting in the autumn and is aimed at residents of Bradley Stoke and South Gloucestershire. Information about the courses will be available from mid July.
Bradley Stoke Community School and Flexible Training Partners are also working together to support the enrichment opportunities by using Flexible Training Partners consultants to deliver tailored training events for students in a number of areas which could include team building, basic finance and budgeting, presentation skills, CV writing and learning styles.
Below is the text of a joint press release in relation to Flexible Training Partners Ltd and BSCS working together in education (joint press release July 2005) and following this, more information about the Flexible Training Partners Ltd mission and new adult education programme:
The construction of the brand new Bradley Stoke Community School (BSCS) has been completed on schedule and is ready for business in more ways than one.
Dave Baker, Head teacher said ‘the school will be unrivalled in terms of being suited to education in the 21st century with specialist facilities throughout and those who are a part of the school from the beginning will be pioneers. It is a fascinating process considering all aspects of developing a school from scratch, with interesting tensions between adhering to tried and tested ways and adopting innovative approaches.’

The vision is for a school which will be both in the community and for the community; its aim is to establish strong relationships with the town council, local schools, clubs and churches, the leisure centre, local businesses and other agencies but especially with the people of Bradley Stoke. One way of achieving this is by working with Flexible Training Partners Ltd (FTP) who will launch a brand new adult education programme on 3rd October 2005. All course delivery will take place within the school and use the excellent teaching facilities available. Changes in European funding have had a major impact on community education so FTP will provide a stepping stone for adults to further education with their unique range of short courses. All learning events are professionally designed and facilitated by the FTP team of qualified tutors, each of whom has a minimum of ten years teaching experience. The focus is on providing a quality learning experience with small groups of students and start times structured to suit those working and with families. Courses fall into four broad headings of developing yourself, your career, your household and health. To find further details and an online booking form please visit the website www.flexibletrainingpartners.com or telephone 07963 254309.
The school boasts two sprung floor halls; one with tiered, retractable seating, stage and an acoustic sound system the other is big enough to hold four badminton courts. It also offers fully equipped classrooms, ICT suite, modern science and technology laboratories and under floor heating. The school is currently proposing a bid for specialist status in performing arts and language in 2006 and devising its school travel plan.
The 5th of September will bring 182 year 7 students through the doors. With a further 180 places available in four subsequent academic years. The appointed teaching team has been working closely with students to ensure they have been and will continue to be involved whenever possible. Prospective students have taken an active part in recruiting new staff and have already formed a school council to help plan for September. The development of the student voice will be a key aspect of the school’s life.
