Lesley - 3rd May 2007
In Bradley Stoke there are two local elections in motion today, one for South Gloucestershire Unitary Authority – where five people need to be elected – and the Town Council where fifteen seats need to be filled.
However, on the Town Council there are four wards where there will be no election as there were exactly the number of candidates needed as there were vacancies to fill. Voting for the Town Council will therefore only take place in Manor Farm Town Ward (1 seat), Primrose Bridge Town Ward (4 seats) and Woodlands Town Ward (3 seats). With 21 candidates contesting 15 seats it is gratifying to note there will be no need for co-options to unfilled seats on this occasion.
For South Gloucestershire Council there are three new wards. Bradley Stoke Central and Stoke Lodge where there are two seats, contested by Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem candidates, Bradley Stoke North where there is one seat contested by Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem candidates, and Bradley Stoke South where there are two seats, each contested by Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem and UKIP candidates.
Your Vote is important, please use it. The Polling Stations are open until 10.00pm
