The Age of Stupid DVD available at libraries

Just pop in to your local library and ask to borrow a copy. You need to be a member of the library to take the film out but if you haven’t joined already, what better incentive?

As well as being made available at libraries, all secondary schools in South Gloucestershire will receive a copy which teachers can use during lesson-time.

The Age of Stupid stars actor Pete Postlethwaite and is a 90-minute film about climate change which is set in the future.

Postlethwaite plays a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking back at archive footage from 2007 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?

It is hoped that by making the film available to watch for free, people in South Gloucestershire will be inspired to do more to help reduce carbon emissions.

These could include:

• Fly less, holiday more – swap plane for train and holiday nearer to home
• Drive less – leave your car at home one day a week and walk, cycle or use public transport
• Eat better – local, in-season fruit and vegetables produce the least emissions
• Dump less – avoid excess packaging, buy only what you need and recycle or reuse.
